Design.

The Oppo Find X5 Pro and Oppo Find X5 are the company’s sleekest handsets. The Oppo X3 Pro was a significant step in build quality and materials, and the company has refined that look for this latest-gen product. The Find X3 Pro had a glass back, but this time Oppo has chosen ceramic. This material is more robust than glass, helping the phone have a better chance of surviving drops.

The backplate is available in Glaze Black and Ceramic White. The Oppo Find X5 Pro has a distinctive design with the camera array at the back sitting in an irregularly shaped, raised area that looks like it has been molded out of the rest of the chassis. There are aluminium edges that are home to all buttons and ports. You’ll find the USB-C port, speaker, and SIM tray will be on the bottom edge. The right-hand edge is home to the power button, while the left-hand edge features a volume rocker.

Display.

Oppo has included a gorgeous display on the Find X5 Pro. It’s a 6.7-inch LTPO2 OLED that goes up to 120Hz. It’ll default to the smooth 120Hz refresh rate, but there’s also a 60Hz mode if you want to slow it down or save battery life. The 6.7-inch AMOLED screen sits in slim bezels, although the bottom one is noticeably deeper than the top. HDR10 is built-in, plus it features a peak brightness of 1300 nits—that’s well above average, but Samsung’s S22 Ultra beats it with 1,750 nits.

Camera.

The Find X5 Pro includes a functional camera setup, but it isn’t as versatile as some of the competition. The phone has more or less the same camera system as the phone it replaces – in principle, at least. There are three rear-facing cameras: 50MP f/1.7 wide angle (80° field of view); 50MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle (10° FoV); and and 13MP f/2.4 telephoto (45° FoV).

Meanwhile on the front, in a cut-out at the top left of the screen, there’s a 32MP f/2.4 selfie camera. Oppo says this can automatically switch between an 80° and 90° field of view depending on how many people are trying to squeeze into a photo. General point-and-shoot photography is very pleasing, with good colour reproduction and clear, sharp images. It’s a pity, though, that the fun Micro-lens that offered 60x magnification in the FindX3 Pro has not made it into this handset.

Performance and Software.

The Oppo Find X5 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s top-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, with 8GB of RAM. If you’re looking to switch from OnePlus, the Find X5 Pro is a great jumping-off point as the software is similar. That said, this phone costs more than a OnePlus 10 Pro

Battery.

The Find X5 Pro is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery – a meaningful increase over the 4,500mAh power pack of the Find X3 Pro and slightly more than the Primary Find X5. It’s more or less the normal Android phone, with only the Xiaomi 10 Pro at 4,600mAh. There’s also the iPhone 13 Pro Max‘ 4,352mAh capacity, but that’s an iPhone, we all know things work differently there.

The 5000mAh battery is backed by an 80W Flash charge that enables you to watch videos, stream movies, play games and make calls as you wish without fear of power limitation. The phone also supports 50W Fast wireless charging which charges it from 0% to 100% in 47 min (advertised). Reverse wireless charging is also available at 10W.
